Monthly Play Readings

Read on for details of the latest monthly play-reading of new writing.

Starting February 2026, EGTG will be meeting for a monthly reading of new playscripts. Previous plays include Noodle by Simon Barker, and Maschula by David McNeill.

Next up, we will be reading While We Wait by Keith Mackenzie, a one-act drama set in a hospital waiting room. Two women from different generations (a young climate change protester and a policeman’s mother) find themselves waiting for news of their loved ones. Through humour, tension, and quiet compassion, the play explores the generational divide, language, tolerance, and personal beliefs.

At its heart, “While We Wait” asks whether two people who see the world so differently can eventually find common ground. Join us for this casual table read – or just listen! – of this brand new work, all washed down with a cuppa and a biscuit or two. The script will be available to download on June 1st.
